The town of Casden, a suburb of the small city of Kegan Ohio, is home to a recent surge in mutants. They are emerging in the schools and some have even settled the area. Unfortunately residents of Casden and the neighboring city of Kegan are highly prejudiced to the growing population of mutants. They want them out of the schools, out of the city, and, with some of the extremists, off the face of the earth.

Caught in the middle are the young generation of mutants. They consist of a majority of the mutant population and more appear each day. Only recently having learned of their mutant powers, these mutants are confused and upset in a world that hates them. Many are disowned and forced to walk the streets, completely abandoned. Many of them join the gang of mutants that has formed in the city, causing destruction and stealing for their own cause.

There is hope however; A mysterious. but generous old woman has opened her manor in the suburban estates to mutantkind. Here they can learn to deal with and control their powers, while learning that not all of humanity hates them. The manors owner never seems to be home, but former students, now adults young and old, run the place and watch over it. It also serves as a place of refuge for those without a home. Unfortunately though, it does not serve as a true school, and the residents must attend public school in addition to the training they receive at the manor.

Often times members of the manor's training school come into conflict with the gang mutants of the city. They try to redeem the mutant name by stopping the crimes and destruction that the gang causes. Unfortunately, they all usually get shoved into the blame together but the students keep hoping that they will be accepted someday...
